You are merciful.

“But even in those days, declares the LORD, I will not make a full end of you.”  Jeremiah 5:18

Even when Your people totally neglect You… You, O God, are merciful.

You restrain from total destruction.

     You do not make a “full end”.

     You reserve and preserve.

You remember Your covenant.

     You are faithful in Your promises.

     You fulfill Your long-term purposes.

You forewarn of coming judgment.

     You invite repentance.

     Your first desire is to renew and restore.

You discipline rather than destroy.

     You keep a faithful remnant.

     You fulfill Your hope in the survivors.

You call to repentance.

     You give advance warnings.

     You appeal to faith and commitment.

You reveal Your righteousness.

     You act in perfect justice.

     You expose in love our sin and deception.

You open the door to future glory.

     You always leave room for growth and change.

     You point to the ultimate gospel redemption in Christ with words of renewal, return, and revival.
