And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
Isaiah 6:3
What angels cry out in antiphonal expression around God’s throne gives me chills this morning as I contemplate the LORD of hosts. He is thrice holy… a holy Father Who sent His Son to die to appease the wrath that our sins deserve. He is the holy Son of God — King of Kings and Lord of Lords before Whom every knee will one day bow, and every tongue confess He is Lord to the glory of God the Father. He is the Holy Spirit Who hovered over the face of the waters at creation, Who hovered like a dove descending on Jesus in the waters of His baptism, Who hovered over the apostles as a tongue of fire at Pentecost, and Who now indwells my redeemed heart — ever present with me in a way that is deeper than I deserve!
This is the Lord of angel armes Who commands the universe and Who rules over my every thought and movement. This is the sovereign and wise God Who controls everything in the universe, from minute atoms to massive galaxies. The entire earth is His. And His glory fills the cosmos and beyond. No wonder angels will never cease to praise Him around His glorious throne. May their amazed worship light my soul’s fire afresh today as well!
