You Decree

Now therefore do not scoff,

lest your bonds be made strong;

for I have heard a decree of destruction

from the Lord GOD of hosts against the whole land.

Isaiah 28:22

You decree destruction

and You have the power

to do all in that hour

for Your instruction

is both

     pleasant

     and frightening

You call for repentance

for only You can save

in mercy You can waive

those deserving consequence

for their

     sin

     and rebellion

You decree judgment

on those who scoff at Your Word

because You are Almighty Lord

all will happen as You meant

disbelief is both

     sinful

     and selfish

You decree salvation

for all who will believe Your Son

accepting His grace through what He’s done

in eternal celebration

finding both

     merciful Savior

     and mighty Lord
